About us

A think tank for the challenges of our time

Center for Makrofinans was founded to develop solutions that match the challenges of our time. Climate policy is too detached from questions of economics and security, even though green electrification is a central part of the solution to the EU’s economic and geopolitical challenges. But a faster energy transition requires renewed and stronger tools in energy policy, fiscal policy, investment policy and industrial policy.

Center for Makrofinans works to influence the transition in both Denmark and the EU. Denmark is our primary focus. By leading the way and building on its historical leadership in energy, Denmark can have a disproportionate impact on the rest of the EU.

The EU is adjusting its approach in these areas so as not to fall behind international developments. This is welcome, because the challenges of our time require that selected parts of the historical foundations of EU policy are thoroughly reconsidered, and that alternatives are developed, for example in the fiscal architecture.
